The Duties of Father of the Bride?

Could someone tell me what the duties of the father of the bride is (mainly at the reception) and what I need to include in the speech
Well as far as the reception goes, you generally welcome your guests, thank them for coming, and toast the bride and groom. You generally have a special dance with your daughter when it is time and maybe even with your wife.
What to include in the speech:
Thank guests and family for being there and supporting your daughter/son-in-law.
Thank his family (usually)
Say something special about your daughter and her new husband, that is basically what is traditional.
Not to be rude but I WOULD NOT thank EVERYONE (florist, clergyman, caterers) in my speech. It gets too long and boring, plus takes away the focus of your daughter/son-in-law. I went to wedding once where someone did this and his speech was over 30 minutes, we were bored to tears.
I would instead try to make a point to go around to the individual people who participated and helped and briefly thank them as well. Just remember you act as the host, basically.
Some fathers act like a master of ceremonies( its time to eat, dance, etc.), but only if there is no DJ or other person to act in that fashion
Don’t stress, things will flow naturally, but you sound like a great dad to put such thought into this. You daughter is quite lucky in a day and age when most fathers don;t even want ot stick around, she has one that wants to make sure her special day is just right. Good for you!

to thank crucial people.stage fright is a problem
Since stage fright is an issue, I would definitely say something short and from the heart. I am sure your daughter knows how much you love her. It may be easier to think of a special moment you remember about her and how it made you feel so proud to be her father.

One of the funniest speeches I have seen was in the Australian movie ‘The Castle’.
In the movie, the father said how many doubts he had as his daughter was marrying a foreigner and he expressed his doubts about the guy his daughter had chosen to marry.
The parents of the groom were horrified, but then he said how happy the guy had made his daughter and he welcomed him to the family with open arms.
It was hilarious, perhaps you could start off negatively and then turn it around, you will get some laughs that way.

My dad is at a loss for words, and so am I… I want to help my dad prepare for the big father of the bride speech but I have no idea what the Bride’s daddy is supposed to say…
Can someone give me ideas to give to him please.
There are several really helpful books about weddings at the library, and almost all will have sections about the traditional speeches. Definitely start there; you’ll get the basics in half an hour.
First, he should thank the guests for attending and celebrating with the family.
Next, he should include his wishes for his daughter’s happiness with her new husband. Your dad can make his speech as sentimental as he likes, either reminicing over his daughter’s childhood and her accomplishments, or he can make it short and sweet. Either way, it should come from his heart.
He should formally welcome the groom into your family. Finally, he announces that the festivities may now begin.
